but none is more perennially successful than the bad boy.

yet they enjoy a great deal of optionality with women.

and a way to vicariously access boldness.

Main Character Energy and Wealth

Bad boys display “main character energy”

because they take what they want from life

rather than asking permission.

While most people toil within the system,

obeying rules in the hope of eventually earning their desires,

bad boys operate within their own systems.

• The Disney Metaphor: In the movie Aladdin, the main character is a street rat and a thief who seduces the Sultan’s daughter. The concept of “A Whole New World” represents rising above the ground level of society’s rules and laws, offering a ticket out of self-denial and into personal freedom.
• The Appeal of Wealth: This dynamic also explains why women are attracted to wealthy men. Wealth, like antisocial boldness, allows individuals to live above the constraints and rules that bind the general population. Aligning with wealth or power allows one to vicariously participate in that freedom.

Physical Protection and Threat Reduction

Women navigate a world where the vast majority of men

are physically stronger than they are,

making safety a primary concern.

Aligning with an aggressive or dangerous man serves

as an evolutionary strategy to manage potential threats:

• Minimizing Threat Sources: Most men will not challenge the most aggressive or brutal subset of men. By aligning herself with the most threatening man in the room, a woman effectively reduces her potential physical threats from most men down to a single man.
• Managing the Threat: Once aligned with the most formidable man, she attempts to neutralize the remaining single threat using her feminine influence.

While this strategy is not risk-free—as that aggression

can sometimes turn inward—it helps explain why even men

on death row receive attention from women.

Ultimately, aligning with a bad boy reduces perceived external threats

while offering vicarious access to social freedom.
