How to ACTUALLY Raise Your Value as a Man
In the 1950s, a plastic surgeon named Maxwell Maltz
noticed a phenomenon that changed
his understanding of his profession.
He would perform flawless operations on patients
with disfigured faces, yet when handed a mirror,
the patients would claim they still felt and looked the same.
The shame remained, even with a new face.
Maltz concluded that the real scar was never on the face,
but rather on the “self-image”
the picture a person carries of who they are.
Until this internal picture changes, nothing external matters:
not your face, your bank account, or the person on your arm.
This discovery led to the book Psycho-Cybernetics.
When people think of a high-value man, they often think of houses,
cars, and women. However, these are just outputs.
The true machine that produces these results is the self-image.
6 Steps to Becoming a High-Value Man
1. The Definition of a High-Value Man
Being a high-value man simply means you are a man
who is hard to replace.
The market does not pay for intelligence; it pays for scarcity.
While there are countless brilliant graduates waiting
for a salary review, individuals who build something rare
a presence, a skill, a reputation, or a body of work command true value.
No man is born high-value or hard to replace;
they have to build themselves into it,
meaning everyone has a chance.
2. The Diagnosis: Your Self-Image is the Thermostat
The self-image is the key to human personality and behavior.
Changing the self-image changes the personality.
More importantly, the self-image sets the boundaries
of individual accomplishment.
The brain acts as an automatic goal-seeking machine,
steering toward the target you set for it.
Your self-image functions like a thermostat with a specific setting.
If your identity is tied to making $10,000 a month,
having a good month where you make $15,000
will eventually be corrected by your subconscious,
bringing you back down to your baseline.
To achieve permanent success, you must reprogram
the man you are internally,
and walk out into the world as a man who naturally earns it.
3. Decide What You Actually Want
Before resetting anything, you need brutal clarity on your target.
Whether you want to provide for your children
at an unforgettable level or become a millionaire,
you must clearly name it because your brain cannot
steer toward an unassigned target.
You must run the “proof of want” test:
when a man actually wants something,
he organizes his entire waking life around achieving it
and becomes almost impossible to stop.
Most men fail not from a lack of ability,
but because they never truly wanted their goal deep down.
Your calendar is your confession;
it reflects what you actually want, not what you say you want.
4. Bury the Old You
Getting to the next level starts with a funeral for your past self.
The man you have been is the one holding you
in your current position.
Reliving the past in your imagination
and criticizing yourself
for old mistakes will only keep you stuck.
Forgiveness acts as a surgical scalpel for cutting
out old emotional scar tissue.
You must forgive the people who have wounded you,
forgive yourself completely, and stop reopening those wounds.
If you constantly tell yourself you are bad at something,
it becomes your reality.
The moment you stop giving power to the past
is the moment it stops having power over you.
5. Install the New Self-Image
Your nervous system cannot tell the difference
between an imagined experience and a real one.
An experiment on basketball free throws showed that
a group practicing entirely in their imagination improved
nearly as much as the group physically practicing on the court.
To install a new self-image, use the “theater of the mind.”
Sit in a quiet place, close your eyes,
and run a vivid film in your head of the man you are becoming.
Visualize in full detail how he enters a room, dresses,
speaks slowly, holds eye contact, trains, and negotiates.
You are depositing memories of a man who does not exist yet,
and your nervous system files them as real experiences.
6. Act As If
After visualizing, the crucial hinge is to act as if
you are already that man.
Walk out and behave as that new version of yourself for
the rest of the day. Do the thing, and you will have the power.
If you practice this for a few weeks, you will start to notice
a difference, and within a few months,
you will see a full improvement.
On the other side of this process,
discipline no longer feels like a challenge.
When your identity shifts,
getting up early to work on your goals happens naturally.
That is your identity doing the work that motivation never could.
